I Spy Something Red

A great way to take advantage of free photo book deals is to make personalized books for your children. I have made an ABC book and Feelings book in the past and S loves both. They will also remain keepsakes in our house. So when I saw this idea, I knew I wanted to make them into a photo book. We have only completed red so far, but plan to do a new color every few days.

I was going to get all the pictures taken so that we were ready when a free photo book deal came around, but then while couponing at Target yesterday, I was given two different free photo book codes from Shutterfly (one with my free 20 print order and the other with my store receipt). I guess we better hurry.

50 Free Prints (pay for shipping)

Snapfish and Fancy Feast are giving away 50 free prints to the first 200,000 people.  Enter your email address here and you will receive a special code.  It will then direct you to login to Snapfish and enter your code to add the credit to your account.  You can view your 50 free prints credit if you go to your "account" at the top.  Mine says they expire at the end of August.

Thanks, Money Saving Mom!

3 Free Shutterfly Valentine's Day Cards

You can get 3 free 5x7 folded Valentine's Day photo cards from Shutterfly using the promo code 3FREECARDS.  You will have to pay $0.99 to ship them to yourself and another $0.08 for tax.  My total was $1.07 which is a lot cheaper than buying three greeting cards at the store.  You will have to enter the code into your account.  Freebies for Mom has good directions on how to do it.  These will be perfect for grandparents!

Free Photo Ornament

Update:  I just learned from the company that this code was specifically intended for people that had purchased mall Santa photos which I was not aware of before posting.  I apologize for the misinformation.

You can get a free (no shipping!) photo ornament from See Here with code mallornament (Note: It's being reported some people are having trouble with the code, but are having better luck with a space after the code.  Try both ways I guess.  I'm not sure what I did, but it worked!)  You must choose one of the two $12.99 ornaments.  I ordered the white one with S on it, but used our dog above for illustrative purposes.  I am not sure when this offer expires.

Jack-o-Lanterns Have Feelings Too...

Using some more pumpkin die-cuts, I decided to draw different facial expressions on each one.  We named each feeling and made a similar face to express it.  S really only knows sad, happy, and surprised and while he can make the face, I'm not so sure he understands what it really means yet.  This was a great activity to develop his emotional vocabulary though because feelings can be a difficult concept.  It's important to me that I give S words to use to express what he's feeling.  For older children, you could give them the name of the feeling and let them draw what they think it would look like.

I also used my Kodak $15 gift code to make a Feelings photo book. Each page has a feeling under a photograph of S expressing that feeling.  It was a lot of work searching through our photos and trying to match up expressions with emotions, but I think it will be worth it.  I can't wait for it to arrive!

Free Photo Prints

I never pay much for photo prints because I either take advantage of special offers via email or sign up with a new print provider that is offering free prints.  You must be a new customer/have a new account to take advantage of these offers.  I compiled a list of current free print offers to new customers.  I have not personally used all of the ones below (though I plan to).  You may have to pay shipping charges with some of the providers, but check to see if there is an "in store pick-up" option or a coupon code for free shipping first to make it completely free.  These can change overnight (in fact two changed while working on the post!) so this list may not be accurate in a few days, but here's what I found today:

CVS 50 prints

See Here (Fuji Film) 100 prints

Snapfish 50 prints

Shutterfly 50 prints

York Photo 20 prints

Clark Colorlabs 20 prints

Artscow 1,200 prints (spread out over time)

FotoTime 50 prints

I couldn't find a current offer for Photoworks or Winkflash, but they have in the past.

Have you had a particularly positive or negative experience with one of the above?  Do you know of any other current offers?

Photo Books

I made this ABC book from Shutterfly for S as a first birthday gift back in May and I highly recommend it.  S loves looking at pictures of himself and pointing out other people and objects in his life.   Then about a month ago on Cool Mom Picks, they had a contest for creative ideas for photo books.  I love what people came up with and thought you might too.   My favorite is a feelings book using photos of S with different expressions.  Also, I like these at Snapfish as a cute Halloween gift idea.
